QR codes are becoming increasingly popular, and are used for a wide variety of applications, from advertising to restaurant menus. But like any technology, they're not without risks. A malicious QR Code could redirect you to an unsecured website or install malware on your device.
đ Always check before scanning
Before scanning a QR Code, especially in a public place, make sure it comes from a reliable source. Be wary of QR Codes that appear to be randomly placed, or that aren't clearly associated with an organization or product you recognize.
đ Visit secure websites
Once you've scanned the QR Code, make sure the website it directs you to is secure. Look for the "https://" in the URL and security symbols like the padlock in the address bar.
